Prayer for our Country and Our Citizens

Father on behalf of our nation we confess that we have grieved you disgracefully with our ungodliness.We as a people have become thankless, rebellious, and unclean.  We’ve ignored Your guidance and spurned Your Presence.  We’ve become a hedonistic, violent, and greedy people.  Our foolishness has led us to the brink of destruction.   We pray earnestly, expectantly, and desperately for spiritual awakening and transformation in our nation.  Forgive us where we as your people frustrate that end.

 God, bless and move upon all the leaders of our nation.  Stir and transform their minds, make them righteous and wise.  Pull down from power those with inflexible spirits who have turned their faces from You.  Replace them with those who will be led by Your spirit and principles.  Give these new leaders wisdom, courage, and grace.  Protect them and their families from every ungodly influence, decision, and attack.  Bless and prosper them and bring their righteous plans to fruition.

 Establish truth in our educational systems and give us godly teachers and educators who will be righteous role models for our children.   Remove those who bring immorality, heresy, and the demonic into the classroom.  Keep our students and educators safe from violence there.  

 Give us integrity, fairness, and truth in our news media.

 Bring righteous judgment in our courts, with justice for all who seek it.  Particularly in our Supreme Court, bring Your influence to bear.  Give these justices wisdom, revelation, and courage to make godly and righteous decisions.  Give us righteous attorneys who desire truth and justice more than personal gain.  Restore our legal system to the greatness You intended.

 Move sovereignly in the media and arts and entertainment industries.  Pull down the ungodly and raise up men and women of your choice in this powerful and influential industry.  Redeem it for your own; let it be a tool of Your righteousness and spiritual ingathering.

 Heal our homes and cement our family relationships.  Help us to “do love” there more than anywhere else.  Fill our homes with wisdom, compassion, fairness, affection, and fun.

 Restore our blighted slums to places of safety.  Send the Holy Spirit to save the lost, help the poor, heal the sick, deliver the addicted, bind up the broken, and give hope to those in despair.

 Deliver the children who are exposed to abuse and fear and who are led into sin by those who should be their defenders.  Protect them with your angels and heal the wounded hearts.

 Help us, with wisdom, power and love, to take back the liberties the church has lost to those who neither love nor respect You.

 Heal the soul of our nation, that we may indeed be “one nation under God.”
