Dear Mr. President, I heard you say you will not guarantee SS checks if the debt ceiling isn't raised.
Why is it the scare always has to do with SS, Medicare, & our Soldiers pay?
Why not stop your pay, your staff, or Congress and the Senate to save more money for our country?
Why use Seniors, Soldiers, & our Needy as examples?
Take the money from those who take no risks and reap the benefits!! Repost if you agree
Instead of threatening to withhold Social Security, VA and disability payments of people who really need the money....
Lets hold the paychecks of all house & senate members, then see how fast they resolve the debt ceiling crisis !!!!!
If you agree repost this & keep it going across the whole USA.

Ummm... I know this is a moot point now, but if the government was to default most of the government employees and beneficiaries would not get paid, not just soldiers and seniors. The President has no real discretion in these matters (other than some accounting tricks), so he could not guarantee SS checks if he wanted. Making payments post-default is largely a legislative issue.
Also, the reason congress and the President would still get paid, despite the default, is a matter of constitutional law and not one of the President's or congress's choosing. There was legislation introduced to prevent the President and members of congress from receiving paid during a shut down, but it didn't pass based on these constitutional concerns.
Although I agree that debt debate was not congress's and the President's finest moments, characterizing the President as threatening to cut off these programs or congress choosing to take pay over paying SS checks is a bit of a distortion.
